Background

At 230 years old, Corney & Barrow is one of the longest established Independent Wine Merchants in the UK. The company aims to offer carefully selected, honestly-priced wines that not only deliver quality and value for money, but also a sense of place.

Challenge

Corney & Barrow needed a new transactional website that would not only win over new customers to their quality range of ready to drink wines, but also satisfy their core of serious wine buyers who invest in rare and vintage wines.

Solution

To cater for this dual market, we designed an ‘everyday store’ and a ‘vintage cellar’. Each has a distinctly different user journey to reflect two very different approaches to wine buying. But equally, users can switch between the two shops seamlessly.

We also designed a ‘knowledge centre’, which is easy to use and consists of articles, news and blog posts. This allows users to tap into the vast amount of knowledge and enthusiasm within the organisation, and among the buyers.

We also devised ‘expandable’ banners above product departments, to help make additional information about country, regions, grapes and so on, available without interfering with access to product lists.
