ARAM STORE

Case Studies

Background

Zeev Aram opened his first all white modernist showroom on the Kings Road in 1964, offering the British public an opportunity, for the first time, to buy directly works by modernist masters Breuer, Le Corbusier, Castiglioni, Eileen Gray, Walter Gropius and others. The initially dumbstruck public soon learned to appreciate modernist design and Zeev's forward thinking enterprise helped pave the way for a transformation in the UK's aesthetic sensibility. The business now operates from a grand showroom in Covent Garden and is respected as the country's "finest furniture store".

Challenge

Our challenge was to create a site that matched the cool industrial ambience of the Covent Garden showroom, provided the right gallery feel for its iconic products, and worked hard as a state-of-the-art e-commerce site. Easy to navigate, easy to shop, stylish and engaging as well as simple to administrate.

Solution

We opted for "Cargo" style fonts, white backgrounds, iconic product silhouettes and large product images to allow the classic furniture "screen estate" to show off its quality. We split the site into discreet parts, the store, the contracts division and the blog. Products are accessible from all sections of the site from the top global drop-down menu.

The site was built on the MAGENTO platform, the world's fastest growing e-commerce platform, which offers retailers unparalleled power, flexibility, growth potential and value. All front and back end development were completed in-house, which gives us the control to ensure that design and build are pixel perfect.

Results

A site that feels completely at one with the original ARAM store in Covent Garden which also provides a superb platform for the retail and B2B sides of the business to grow
